VIDEO PREMIERE: RUFF MAJIK exorcize their demons and get “Schizophrenic”

Written by News

What would happen if Immortal bumped into Black Sabbath in the undergrowth? Pretoria’s relentless doom rockers RUFF MAJIK provides a satisfying answer with their bonkers new video “Schizophrenic” below.

Feeling old school to the bone, RUFF MAJIK are also celebrating their recent signing on Dutch label Lay Bare Recordings, who will release their new album “Tårn” on May 3rd. The band surround themselves with the finest, as they once again recorded with Evert Snyman in Johannesburg, and got the whole thing mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, Noothgrush) in Portland.

The trio appeared at last year’s Freak Valley and Sonic Blast Moledo festivals, while they delivered “Seasons” — one of the coolest albums of 2018, which we presented through our Record Of The Week section and that you can stream here. RUFF MAJIK craft a helluva high-octane breed of heavy rock that takes its cue from old school doom and psychedelia, with hints of black metal as if things weren’t spiced up enough! Think Witch (the 70s zamrock legends, not J. Mascis ghost project) meet Kadavar and Earthless for the fierce, groove-infused riffage. Genuinely rock’n’roll and uncompromisingly cool.

Keep your ear to the ground, as their new album “Tårn” lands this May on Lay Bare Recordings!
