Eight years. That’s how long it took the sonic beast that is WHORES to blast yet another storm of bangers. To say that we haven’t seen the time go by would be a lie, so eagerly awaited was the follow-up to “Gold”. And then “War” arrived.
Christian Lembach and his sidekicks unleash nine monstrous tracks with a sound so phenomenally sharp that I’ve rarely heard in this genre: this is noise rock obviously, but the most tar-thick, fat, bloody aggressive and distorted you’ll ever hear. In short, this album is rips and you’ll have a blast listening to it from start to finish.
If the lyrics sound tortured or unhealthy, they’re perfectly matched by the overflowing energy they’re shouted over, to the point of turning into real singalongs to scream at the top of your lungs!
With their distinctive sound, the Atlanta trio have established themselves as the figureheads of devastating noise rock that’s a blast to listen to. On repeat. All the time. All the way.
