SONS OF ALPHA CENTAURI looks back and converts the try on “Pull”.

Written by Album Review, Chronique

When a band creates music that echoes so powerfully the golden age of rock (the 90s), the lost listener is very tempted to hop on the labeling bandwagon: grunge, post-hardcore, alternative-rock/metal, indie-rock, and so on. Fuck it, because all roads lead to Sons of Alpha Centauri’s brand of Rock.

If you liked their previous album “Push“, you will love “Pull”. They have just improved their sonic recipe. The arrow was sharpened to hit straight into the hearts of music lovers. Intended as an introspective journey, the harmonies on “Pull” may disorientate you at first, but you will quickly find sounds that will remind you of the finest hours of inventive rock, combining melodies, sharp riffs and sonic fury (who said “Around the Fur”?) without sounding like a copy or lapsing into nostalgia.

“Pull” accompanies you and gives you that feeling of fullness that only a voice like Jonah Matranga’s could do. Sons of Alpha Centauri or the revival of a “rock for all” that rekindles the flame and carries it with pride.

Bonus: if you like the last two Sons of Alpha Centauri albums, listen to the underrated Addict and their 1998 debut album “Stones”. The resemblance is so striking that you won’t believe your ears.
