With the legendary trio comes a handful of high-quality bands, including Japanese doomsters CHURCH OF MISERY and American acts ASG, ELDER and ANCIIENTS are completing this (heavier and heavier) lineup… More good news ongoing in the next few weeks!

SPIRIT CARAVAN (Facebook)

Having been in hot demand with this year’s Saint Vitus, Obsessed and solo appearances at festivals including Inferno and Maryland Deathfest, Wino thankfully works hard to stay at the top of his game, doing what he was born to do and justifying his respected position as one of the godfathers of US doom. Its early days for this welcome reunion and more details will follow. For now, you can rest assured at the prospect of bathing in Wino’s genre-defining, warm-toned riffage at Desertfest 2014…

CHURCH OF MISERY (Facebook)

Doom, metal, serial killers, distortion, riffs, terror, grooves, doom, serial killers, doom, hair, gurning, serial killers and DOOM. If this is your idea of a heavy metal shopping list, then Japan’s almighty Church of Misery is the psychopathically-run, one-stop shop for all the boogie-laden sludge you’ll ever need. (…) It’s not just a privilege to welcome them back to Camden Town for their second DesertFest appearance in three years; it’s a blood-stained honour.

ASG (Facebook)

ASG’s style vacillates anywhere from the catchiest, poppiest college rock to the crunchiest depths of sludge and the whiskey-soaked swamps of the South, all executed with experienced, veteran-like precision and a consistent beat which makes it impossible not to lose yourself in a blissful head bang.

ELDER (Facebook)

Elder are the leading lights in a whole new wave of desert heaviness; classic stoner grooves and extended rounds of progressive riffage are all carefully woven in alongside their extraordinary malaises into the world of psychedelia. Put simply, if you’re a fan of the rockier elements of Colour Haze or the more tuneful, melodic side to Sleep’s epically fuzzy pummel, prepare to get excited by this band.

ANCIIENTS (Facebook)

Anciients are tapping into a forgotten vein of Viking fury and have created something so colossal it threatens to loosen the bowels of the underworld. Reminiscent of a Mastodon/High on Fire frankenbeast, coupled with shades of Opeth, this is progressive metal at its finest.

Other bands confirmed: MASTER MUSICIANS OF BUKKAKE / DRAGGED INTO SUNLIGHT / THE MACHINE / BLACK RAINBOWS / GRANDLOOM / MONKEY3 / WAR WOLF / THE BODY / ARABROT / HEY COLOSSUS / SLABDRAGGER
